MICRO_REC WEEK 2: WHALES by Kelsey Oseid

We are drowning in recommendations. Everything and everyone vies for our attention in the attention-economy.
In this weekly series, I curate one thing. It might be a book. It might be an app. It might be a cool bug. It might be a painting. It might be an essay. It might be shoes. But I promise to only recommend one thing that you can enjoy in just seven days.
MICRO_REC for the week of September 14, 2025
I really love illustrated nature books. Kelsey Oseid illustrates some of my favorite books in this genre, like WHALES: AN ILLUSTRATED CELEBRATION.

Not only do you get to enjoy beautiful illustrations, but they're also very informative if you're an animal behavior and nature hobbyist like myself. I have a degree in biology and spent many years in ecological research, so scientific education is near and dear to me. Also, animals are just fucking cool. Look at what evolution can do! Endless forms most beautiful and wonderful, indeed.
You can buy the book on Bookshop.org or order it from your local independent bookstore.

At kelzuki.com, Oseid also sells originals and art prints with many creatures from Classes, Orders and more from the kingdom Animalia.

And that's my recommendation for this week!
